How can I register for JSANO classes?
You can register for JSANO classes several ways. You can visit our office and pay for your class in person. You can fill out the registration form and mail it to our office with your payment. You can register at designated registration times during the summer. Please note that if you are paying by cheque, an NSF charge will apply for any returned cheques.
Where is the JSANO office?
The JSANO office is located in the lower level of Northern College. It is down the hall from the cafeteria. There is a sign hanging from the ceiling outside of our office door. For the months of June, July and August, the office is usually open Monday through Friday from 8:30am - 4:30pm. In our off season, the office is closed, but you can call or email us if you need to contact us.
Does JSANO offer scholarships?
Yes. JSANO does have a scholarship program for for the children's classes. In order to provide assistance to low-income families in our community, JSANO has designed a formal application that families will be able to complete. If you would like to apply for a scholarship, please fill out the scholarship application and drop it off at our office. Parents or guardians need to fill out the scholarhip application.
Does JSANO offer gift certificates?
Yes, JSANO does sell gift certificates. They are available in any amount & make the perfect birthday or Christmas gift.
Can I register for only one week of a two week class?
Yes you can. However, performing classes such as Dance, Acting and Voice perform in the recital and preparation for the recital begins the first week. Also, if a student only takes the first week of a two week performing arts class, he/she will not be permitted to participate in the recital.
I want to take the adult cooking class, can I sign up for specific classes instead of the whole week?
The class is designed to be a week long cooking experience. You are not able to sign up for specific classes during the week, you need to sign up to take the whole week.
What is the recital?
The recital is a performance that happens the Thursday night of the second week of classes. Children's performing arts classes participate in the recital. The recital is free, but donations are accepted at the door.
My child was in the recital. Does JSANO record the recital?
Yes, JSANO records the recital. The recital is recorded to DVD and is usually available about 4-6 weeks after the recital. Orders for the recital DVDare taken immediately following the recital and it is also available for sale at Pauline's Smokeshop in the Kirkland Lake Mall. You can also contact our office to arrange to purchase the DVD.
I'm interested in being a JSANO instructor, how do I apply?
JSANO is always looking for new and exciting classes to offer. Simply email us your resume with a brief description of the class you would like to teach. Our primary focus is our two week summer school which occurs for two weeks in August but JSANO also offers some classes year round. Once our board of directors reviews your information, we will contact you.
I have an idea for a class that JSANO is not offering, how can I let you know?
JSANO is always interested in what classes the community would like to see JSANO offering. Please send us an email with the classes you would like to see JSANO offer and we will do our best to add it to our lineup.
I'm interesting in volunteering with JSANO, what do I do?
JSANO is constantly looking for new people to improve the arts in the Kirkland Lake area. If you are interesting in volunteering, you can fill out our Volunteer Application and send it in to us. We'd love to hear from you!
I wish to make a donation to JSANO, where do I send it?
JSANO relies on donations to fund our school. Without the help of the community and local business, JSANO would not be here. If you with to make a donation, it may be mailed to us at the address above. Cheques may be made out to JSANO.
